The Trackstick units work via GPS. Due to this the units do need a clean line of sight to work like any GPS equipment. All tracksticks require the embossed globe facing upwards to the sky without any metal between it to get guananteed results.

Trackstick 2 - Battery Life
This device is conveniently powered by just two (2) AAA batteries. Proprietary low power GPS technology will keep the Trackstick IITM running for up to a full week and the 1Mb flash memory ensures that the Trackstick IITM will log weeks or even months of travel histories.
Trackstick 2 - Tracking Using Google Earth
The Trackstick IITM will work anywhere on the planet. Using the latest in GPS mapping technologies from Google EarthTM, your exact location can be shown on satellite-based maps and 3D geographical terrain.
With the detachable belt clip, Trackstick IITM can be carried on a belt, in a bag or purse, or covertly installed and placed on anything that moves. Trackstick’sTM technology enables a continuously updated record of the exact route, stop times, speed and direction, among other valuable information. User selectable features allow the record time to be changed from an interval of every 5 seconds, or from 1 minute to every 15 minutes.
All of TrackstickTM II’s information can easily be downloaded to your computer via the USB port and quickly viewed on Google Earth’sTM 3D model of the planet. No monthly fees are required and all software needed to run Trackstick II’sTM technology is included.
TracksticksTM are small GPS location recorders capable of continuously logging their own location histories for extended periods of time. These detailed recordings include time, date, location, speed, heading and altitude. Built-in flash memory and long battery life allows for the storage of months of travel information.

How Trackstick works
The TrackstickTM receives signals from twenty-four satellites orbiting the earth. With this information, the TrackstickTM can precisely calculate its own position anywhere on the planet to within 2.5 meters.
All recorded history can be outputted to the following formats:
- KML (GoogleTM Earth file)
- GPX (GPS data Exchange)
- RTF (Detailed text file with .hTMl map links)
- CSV (Comma Separated Values)
- HTML (Web page with graphics and maps)
Histories can also be outputted to most mapping services, including:
- maps.google.com
- mapquest.com
- virtualearth.com
- MicrosoftTM Streets and TripsTM
- EncartaTM

Where is the best location to place the TrackStick in a vehicle?
The front dash with the embossed globe facing the sky is the best spot. Some glove compartments or under the dash without any metal between it and the sky, but the unit needs to get a GPS connecton to work, this may not work in every vehicle in this area. The speaker Parcelshelf behind the rear seats is another great place. Concealed in the from bumper of the vehicle with the embossed globe having a clear sight of the sky.

When histories are viewed, Trackstic TM overlays a red line on the map indicating where you've traveled. The location and length of each stop is clearly indicated on each map making it easy to see each and every place the TrackstickTM has been.
